How to Choose the Right Solar Panel Company

These days, most people consider solar installations as vanity projects for liberal yuppies. Finally, this misconception is now debunked as the latest in solar energy technology has proven that installing solar energy system would help the people save on electric bills. As a matter of fact, it is the cleanest source of energy that can help us liberate from our dependency in fossil fuel.

With the costs of installation now significantly lower, it is not surprising that a large number of homeowners have expressed interest in having their own system at home to harness the power of the sun. While it is a good thing that people are becoming more aware and interested in the technology, one must not simply go out there and have anyone install the system for them.

There are a lot of things that can go wrong if the installers are not skilled at doing the said task. For that matter, there are several things that you have do to ensure that they would have a good experience in having the solar panels fitted as well as having the whole system set up.

The first thing to do is to make sure that the installers have credentials issued by the North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners or NABCEP. Having this credential signifies that the installers have gone through the NABCEP examination to test their ability to safely install solar energy systems. But it is not recommended to base one's decision solely on these credentials. Many expert installers have not gone through the examination yet.

Aside from credentials, you can be sure that an installation company would do a good job if you have someone confirming that these people are good at what they do. Ask your friends and acquaintances if they know of a solar energy installation company that they can recommend. Do not despair if they cannot point you to one as you can easily search the Internet for said information.

Find forums associated with solar energy so you can find good recommendations from people who have already had systems installed. You can also post your questions about reputable companies in your area if you cannot find a thread or discussion about these installation companies.

The more experienced the solar system company, the better it is for you to trust them with your solar panel installation needs. It is not recommended that you base your decision on how long the company has been operating since beginning companies may employ experienced people to efficiently build solar panel system. Instead, ask the company as to the experience of the person that would be heading the team installing the solar panels in your home.

Warranty from the installer should also be a factor that you should seriously take into consideration when looking for someone to install the system for you. Since solar energy installations are long-term investments, you need to be sure that you can count on the people who installed the system to provide you also with long-term support.
